What was the core challenge?
The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award relies on one of the UK’s largest networks of adult volunteers. Its learning had developed organically across regions, roles and delivery settings, leaving valuable knowledge dispersed and volunteers without a single, consistent place to find the guidance they needed.
Snowfish worked as a trusted partner to the DofE’s Network Learning Team, helping define the vision and requirements for a new Learning Platform and leading the design of a connected family of role-based learning pathways.
How did we structure the solution?
Rather than simply digitising existing training, the project reorganised learning around what volunteers need to do at each stage of their DofE role. Structured pathways now connect digital modules with practical resources, curated playlists, facilitated SkillBuilders and support that volunteers can revisit while performing their roles.
The first three core pathways were designed and launched within four months, establishing the foundation for a scalable learning ecosystem that continues to grow with the needs of the DofE network.
What was the measurable impact?
- Nearly 40,000 adult volunteers supported
- 18,052 active Learning Platform users
- 245 content items and more than 570,000 views
- 86-96% of delayed-survey respondents applying their learning
- 94-99% recommending the relevant pathways
